Created in 1903 to promote Force. The Society aims to foster awareness of our industrial past from the Industrial Revolution to the present day, through its programme of Winter Lectures and Summer Visits. Enjoy a country cottage holiday in the beautiful Avon valley. Ford cottage is a 16th century weavers cottage just yards from the water meadows of the Frome and Avon. The Frome is a tributary of the Avon and the ford, now replaced with a bridge, has been a crossing place since the 10th century. To explore with Google Street View which will open in a new window. The cottage is just around the corner from the 16th century Inn at Freshford. There is a great community shop.
